One of my father’s sisters poses here with my grandmother, Eulalia Antonio Diaz. They used to work on the plantation in the south coast of Guatemala during the annual season to pick coffee or cardamoms. Each year, peasants from the northern part of the country would go south for 4 to 6 months to work on cotton, cane, coffee or banana fields.
