A story for dreaming in two languages
The Great Dream | El Gran Sueño follows Marcos on an adventure from Guatemala to the United States. Along the way, he discovers that dreaming big also means helping others, valuing family, and carrying our roots with pride.
Told in English and Spanish, this story brings two languages and two worlds together through one experience: a child learning that where he comes from does not limit where he can go.

From Guatemala to the world, without losing your roots
This story grew from my own experience as a Maya Q’anjob’al, migrant, and Guatemalan child. I wanted to share it so children can recognize the value of their identity and understand that dreams grow when we share them.
Its colorful illustrations turn reading into a family conversation about belonging, empathy, migration, and hope.
A book for children, families, and schools
Ideal for reading together at home or in the classroom. Its bilingual English–Spanish edition helps children:
- strengthen cultural identity and pride in their roots;
- practice both languages through a warm, memorable story;
- talk about family, friendship, empathy, and migration;
- remember that helping others is also part of achieving a dream.

Bring The Great Dream home
Bilingual edition: English and Spanish.
Share a story of roots, courage, and possibility with the children in your life.
